The SQDC is responsible to sell cannabis in the province of Quebec. Recreational marijuana use is allowed since October 17 2018 in the province of Quebec like any other province after the national Cannabis Act
Each province and territory set its own laws for various aspects, such as the legal age.
In the province of Quebec, the SQDC have the monopoly. Only contractors that supply to the SQDC are able to grow. The citizen cannot grow their own supply. The SQDC store location and website are available to buy cannabis.
The SQDC mentioned on their website that ”Any profits we make will be used to create a fund that invests primarily in cannabis prevention and research.”
The Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) have a primarily social mandate, not commercial. They will not take part in any advertising or promotion.
Financing and income.
With a focus on health protection, under the Act respecting the Société des alcools du Québec, the SQDC’s revenues from the sale of cannabis must be used for the following purposes:
- The elimination of any deficit that the SQDC may incur;
- The transfer to be made by the Minister of Finance each year to the Cannabis Prevention and Research Fund, and
the prevention of the use of psychoactive substances, as well as the fight against related harms.

Can you order more cannabis online that you are allowed to buy in a physical store?
No, the maximum amount of cannabis that can be purchased per visit to SQDC.ca is 30 g.
How much does delivery cost?
A fixed fee of $5 (not including taxes) is charged for delivery.
Can I have my order delivered outside Quebec?
No. The SQDC.ca delivery service is available for Quebec addresses only.
